Tioga Plays an Important Role in new Combined Cycle Power Plant unit in Kansas

In an article entitled “Several Gas Projects of Less than 250 MW Come Online During May”, the author Wayne Barber writes that the “Empire District Electric’s 94 MW natural gas-fired Riverton Conversion Project in Cherokee County, KS is [now] operating”. [Electric Power & Light/POWERGRID International digital magazine dated July 11, 2016]. (for more goto http://goo.gl/BIxQ0L).

According to another on the opening of the plant, the Riverton Plant project is the first Combined Cycle power plant in Kansas. The local Projects Manager, Drew Landoll, said that the plant will be the most efficient power plant in the state of Kansas and beneficial in at least three key concerns by replacing diminished capacity due to the retiring of older units, holding down fuel costs and lowering emissions.
